Short courses offered over five and a half days during Summer and autumn introducing methods of bronze casting.
The course introduces methods of casting bronze using the loss wax technique and ceramic shell moulds. Over a period of five and a half days methods are discussed and demonstrated to produce a bronze casting to patination finish if required. All abilities welcome, novice to experienced modelers/sculptors learn new accessible processes to help realize the ancient skills of metal casting.
The techniques of wax modelling and other forms of pattern materials are shown and applied in the initial stages of the course. Followed by shell investment mould preparation and application methods. Culminating in the heat processes of dewaxing the shell mould, filling with molten bronze and after fettling the casting colouring with patination techniques.
